Chandigarh: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Punjab, Sibin C has thanked voters for registering 63% turnout for 4 Assembly constituencies which went to by-polls on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
The precise voting turnout figures will, however, be updated by Thursday once all the polling parties return to the collection centers and final data entry is completed.
CEO shared that, as per recorded data till 6 pm, the highest turnout of 81% was recorded in Gidderbaha constituency.
Till 6 pm, 63% and 54% turnout was recorded at Dera Baba Nanak and Barnala whereas it was 53% in Chabbewal.
He expressed gratitude to voters for actively participating in the electoral process and exercising their democratic rights.
He appreciated the efforts of Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Election Officers and Returning Officers for ensuring smooth management and strict supervision during the electoral process.
He also acknowledged the dedication and efforts of the Punjab Police, Central Armed Police Forces, polling officials, volunteers, and all individuals involved in ensuring a secure environment at polling stations and smooth execution of the electoral arrangements.
The cooperation and constructive role played by the political parties, their candidates and the mediapersons also came in for appreciation by him.
