Mumbai: On the contempt plea filed by the prominent NGO Dhyan Foundation (DF), a Mumbai court has issued notice to Google for failing to remove a video targeting it and the spiritual Guru Yogi Ashwini.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (Ballard Estate) AU Bahiir issued the notice last week.
The matter is posted for the next hearing on January 3, 2024 for the search engine giant to respond.
NGO’s lawyer Raju Gupta alleged Google “intentionally and deliberately” failed to remove the objectionable and defamatory video despite the High Court order.
The court also issued notice to the concerned police Inspector for inaction in getting the video removed.
Gupta argued before the court that Google was adopting delaying tactics and seeking adjournment on flimsy grounds due to which damage was caused to immaculate character and reputation of Yogi Ashwini ji and the DF.
According to the contempt plea, the Bombay High Court had, on March 31, 2024 allowed the NGO’s petition and directed YouTube to remove the objectionable video. But it is still running on YouTube outside India.
The DF is actively involved in human and animal, especially gauvansh, welfare activities across the country for long.
