The story of Faridkot’s new-look police stations, posts…!

Known for her innovative approaches, SSP Faridkot Dr Pragya Jain had implemented similar changes during her probation period at Police Station Dugri at Ludhiana.

Faridkot: The police stations and police posts in Faridkot district now showcase a transformed appearance. The creation of better environments for the staff stationed there is also meaningfully enhancing the quality of police assistance to public.

These changes are the result of new initiatives led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Faridkot, Dr Pragya Jain, whose directives have modernized the infrastructure and outlook of the district’s eight police stations and five police posts.

On her directions, the infrastructure and outlook of the district’s 8 police stations and 5 police posts now wear a modern look. “The primary focus of this effort has been the general public and the staff working at these stations,” she told.

This correspondent came across these visible changes during a recent visit to the city police stations at Kotkapura, Faridkot and the police post at Panjgrian. Disorganized record rooms are a thing of past there. These rooms have been reorganized and records are now being maintained digitally. Additionally, outdated and unclaimed vehicles at police stations are being disposed off.

Known for her innovative approaches, SSP Jain had implemented similar changes during her probation period at Police Station Dugri under the Ludhiana Police Commissionerate. She has now extended her expertise laced with a zeal for change to all the police stations in Faridkot district.

According to her, when complainants visit police station, they should get a feeling of having come to a well-organized and welcoming place. Similarly, providing a clean and conducive workspace enhances the efficiency of the staff. To meet these objectives, the makeover project was launched, and now all the district’s police stations are ready with their new look.

When asked during the visit, DSP Kotkapura Jatinder Chopra and SHO Manoj Kumar of City Police Station Kotkapura were all praise for the SSP’s efforts in providing better work environment. The DSP office is also housed in the police station area. On her part, the SSP commended the efforts of the police staff and expressed confidence that these measures would enhance public-police cooperation and mutual support.

It took about a month to bring about significant improvements in all the police stations and police posts as part of this campaign. Measures have been taken to ensure cleanliness management, strengthen security posts, maintain transparency in record-keeping, improve the quality of the mess, and ensure proper arrangements for bathrooms and water supply.

Unused vehicles have been removed, police warehouses have been cleaned, and digital records have been created. Separate rooms have been set up for investigation officers perform their duties more effectively. Better arrangements have been ensured for visitors, including seating areas, drinking water, etc. alongside appointing police personnel to assist them.

She emphasized that these reforms have been designed and implemented to improve public convenience and strengthen the police administration.

At Kotkapura police station, the local visitors this correspondent spoke with appreciated this initiative. On visit to Punjab, Spain-based Harkomaljit Singh noted the improvements in cleanliness and security made his experience at the police station more convenient and comfortable.

Enhanced public amenities and proper vehicle management have also improved trust and transparency, added the SSP.

No surprise then, DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav acknowledged this outstanding work honouring all Sub-Divisional Officers of the district, all Station House Officers, all Chowki Incharges, and police personnel who played a significant role in this achievement with the DGP Commendation Disc.
