Punjab Police sets up probe panel in the wake of US deportations.

Punjab's Additional Director General of Police NRI Affairs, Praveen Sinha is the head of this investigation panel

Chandigarh: Punjab Police has constituted a four-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the illegal human trafficking/illegal migration arising from the deportation of the Indian citizens domiciled in Punjab from the US.

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) NRI Affairs, Praveen Sinha is the head of this investigation panel, informed Gaurav Yadav, Director General of Police (DGP), Punjab.

ADGP Internal Security Shive Kumar Verma, IGP Provisioning Dr S Boopathi and DIG Border Range Range Satinder Singh are the other three memebrs.

The SIT will focus on identifying the individuals involved in these illegal activities and ensuring they are held accountable for their actions, besides, identifying the persons involved in the illegal activities.

Directions have been given to the SIT to take appropriate action as per law against any person found involved in illegal migration/human trafficking and also to recommend measures to combat this problem.

This team has also been empowered to co-opt any other police officer in the inquiry/investigation. They will maintain coordination with the concerned Senior Superintendents of Police/Commissioners of Police, who have been directed to provide all the required assistance and infrastructural facilities to this panel, he added.
