Amritsar: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has announced to set up a state of the art Surjit Patar Centre for ethical Artificial Intelligence (AI) at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar.
Chairing the function to pay homage to the eminent Punjabi poet Surjit Patar here on Tuesday, January 14, 2024, the CM said this centre would be equipped with the latest technology. He assured his government’s full support and cooperation to the university in this venture.
CM Mann also announced an award to be given to budding writers in memory of the great poet.
Acknowledging Patar for his poetic genius, the CM recalled his strong personal bond with the late writer and his enormous contribution to promotion of the Punjabi language, literature and culture.
Comparing him with legendary English poet John Keats, he observed that Patar left a deep impact on the psyche of every Punjabi like his English counterpart. He praised Patar for cementing the bond of communal harmony and brotherhood in society with his poetic expressions.
